Kimono
Kimono is an AI tool that helps people keep up with their professional network. Its onboarding asked for a lot before anyone saw their own contacts, so we rebuilt it into one phone-first flow that gets new users there in under two minutes.

Project Overview
Kimono is a privacy-first AI startup building the identity and context layer for the agentic era. Their line: your network knows you, your systems don't. We focused on the first thing every new user meets, the onboarding, and the core flows that turn a signup into something useful.
Our Role
We redesigned the onboarding and core product flows to get new users to value fast. That meant:
- Auditing the original five-step onboarding and flagging every friction point
- Rewriting 40+ screens for clarity and trust
- Making phone number step one: verify and text the app link in a single move
- Turning calendar prep into the cold-start offer: prep notes for everyone you're meeting this week, on a separate calendar that never touches your existing events
We also removed the syncing indicators entirely, since the median user has live data in under a minute.
Impact & Results
The new phone-first flow reaches usable data in under two minutes for the median user, down from a five-step process people abandoned. We shipped a new auth flow, a phone-first wireframe flow, and a rewritten Build My Kimono ID experience. That's more than 40 screens in all. Onboarding completion rose 38%, and early drop-offs fell 52%.
