Ya Qalbi

Project Overview

Ya Qalbi is a mobile app that teaches Lebanese Arabic for everyday conversation. Learners pick one of six phoenixes and travel across Lebanon with it, collecting pieces of dahab that unlock memories of Lebanese culture. We designed the experience as one loop: a short lesson, a win worth celebrating, and a reason to come back tomorrow.

Our Role

We designed and built Ya Qalbi end to end, from the brand and the curriculum to the app and the systems behind it. That meant:

• A 10-chapter curriculum where every word climbs five steps: met, recognized, used in a sentence, typed from memory, then brought back in a later lesson
• Seven exercise types, from matching pictures to building full sentences, with every word shown in Arabic script and in the Latin spelling Lebanese people text in
• A story layer: six phoenixes to choose from and 28 pieces of dahab, each unlocking a memory of Lebanese culture
• A daily-habit loop: Nar streaks, Nour points, a leaderboard, and a post-lesson flow that celebrates every win

A 10-screen onboarding with Apple, Google or email sign-in, and progress that follows you to any phone

Impact & Results

Ya Qalbi is in beta on iOS through TestFlight, and yaqalbiapp.com is live with a signup that feeds a five-email welcome sequence. The course runs from first greetings to ordering food, asking for directions and talking to a doctor, across 1,900+ words and 8,600+ exercises. Every one of its 438 units passes the validator with zero errors, and people can delete their account right from the app.
